Metapmorphose is written for the program No One too Small of the MAAT Saxophone Quartet.
Metamorphosis is an ode to shifts and changes. It is precisely that in-between area where one thing turns into another that is so wondrous. A colour or a state that slowly becomes indefinable because it is in motion to the next. A form that has almost ceased to be its own, breathes impermanence and that is precisely why it makes time stand still for a moment. Nature is full of these elusive moments. Metamorphosis is a succession of musical states that merge into one another. Blends of sound in which motifs surface, drown and merge. Loose voices culminate, intertwine and their intensity gives way again to a fresh clarity. A continuous sparkling stream that meanders from one thing to another.
